Poem #21

The Junk Yard

There is a fruit and vegetable section called fresh produce.
Seafood, beef, turkey, chicken, and any other animal products compose the meat section.
The isle of dry goods is filled with baking products, breads, cookies, crackers and cereals.
In to the frozen section you can find anything on ice, even fully prepared meals.
The dairy section is full of milk products, butter, cheeses and fresh eggs.
The bakery is full of sweet treats and fresh baked goods to tempt your palate.
Juices of all sorts, powdered and carbonated drinks and alcohol just alike in the beverage section.
The deli has hot and cold meals, cold cuts and everything ready to scooped, sliced, and weighed.
But, there is one small section of the store labeled “organic foods.”
So what does that make of all the other foods in the store?

I got that chicken!
Come on down my strip and have some too.
It’s lined with food shops and chicken for you.

The Waffle House with chicken on the grill, tantalize your taste buds if you will.
The Chik-fil-A with chicken galore, please, with special sauce, come have some more.
The American deli will keep the lemon pepper, barbecue, plain or buffalo wings ready.

I got that chicken!
And you know it’s fire.
Eat until your heart’s desire.

Popeye’s Chicken on the next block, don’t forget my biscuit in the two piece box.
KFC across the road, the Colonels spicy recipe, my bucket is on overload.
McDonald’s and Burger King ain’t far behind, they got chicken too to compete with all kinds.

I got that chicken!
Bring your whole family to eat.
Make it today’s very special treat.

Make your way over for chicken at Zaxby’s, we’ll put it in your salad how you like it exactly.
Long John Silver’s serves fish with your slaw, but if inclined you can get chicken with it all.
Annie Luara’s Kitchen hosts the best soul food, chicken that’s fried or baked, not stewed.

Pop into the Jamaican spot for a little jerk chicken, but be aware that the spice is kickin.
Even the Chinese spot serves a side of wings, you can have a bit with your Asian things.
If no fast food fits into your day, then swing by the Publix and get hot chicken made the right way.

I got that chicken!
You can have some too.
Made to perfection just for you.
